What is the Relic Run?

The Relic Run is a vehicle-assisted overland expedition organized as a throwback to the older days of motorized backcountry travel. Participants in the Relic Run are required to operate in the spirit of 4x4 exploration in the 1970’s. Only 1970’s and older vehicles, only 1970’s and older camping gear, and only 1970’s and older route finding.

Relic Run 2010: Uinta Mountains Basecamp

Relic Run 2010

Relic Run 2010 explored Utah's highest and most rugged range, the Uinta Mountains.  The group began the trip in Kamas, Utah on Thursday July 8th and returned to the 21st century on Monday July 12th.  During the Relic Run, participants adhered to the "70's and older only" rule.  Vehicles, camping equipment, clothing and other gear was 70's vintage or based solely on technology, materials, and knowledge available in the 70's.

Relic Run 2009: Great Salt Lake

Relic Run 2009 Route

The inaugural Relic Run took participants on a 4-day, 3-night expedition around Utah's world-famous Great Salt Lake.  Eleven rigs began the 250 mile journey at the Spiral Jetty in late June.
